Ready for the medical stuff to end, Lord... My first week of the new chemo knocked me out and allowed my E. Coli (which we all have in our bodies) to go completely skewed, taking my potassium, calcium, and magnesium to go bananas. The Saturday after my treatment, I got out of bed, sort of slithered to the floor, and then lost a week of memories. Mom couldn't get me up, called the fire/rescue, who said something's wrong, and I was in our local hospital, then shipped down to the hospital where I get my chemo. I woke up a week later wondering where the hell I was. Since then I've been trying to get stronger, as my oncologist said no chemo wou

Health Update!

0 min read
For those who have been following my journals, I thought it would be good to give an update on the latest, and thought that a free journal skin would be nice to do it on. Anyways, I finished the chemo course last year on 11/1, and was promptly put into a holding pattern because none of us, including the doctor, were quite sure what the next step was.  As time went on, I started developing what I thought was a SERIOUS case of sciatica pain.  In January I went to see my surgeon-oncologist for a follow-up, and she sent me straight in for a PT scan ASAP.  Come to find out, my "sciatica" was a Stage IV bone lesion on my sacrum (tailbone) from met

Major update here...things have been moving so nuts since last time. Basically, the chemo treatments were done Nov 1, and then we waited to see if I needed another surgery.  In the meantime, enjoy the holidays as best I could with a sciatic injury. Had a PT scan two weeks ago...sciatic isn't sciatic as in fixable by chiropractor.  Other than a few little spots in my body cavity, the cancer has gone, including leaving the lymph nodes we were so worried about and is more or less located in three tiny ones that can be watched but otherwise left alone.  The big problem:  the cancer has given me a bone lesion on my sacrum bone (tailbone) which i

:cake: Happy Birthday! I hope you have an excellent day. :cake:
Thank you very much...I actually did!  With all I'm going through recently (as in the last year) it was kind of nice to think I made it.  I'm still fighting the cancer, but my infusion treatments are now done, and we're waiting for the surgeon to talk to the chemo doctor -- my recent CT scan said I have swollen lymph nodes behind my liver.  Best long term remission possibility is another surgery before the end of the year to have them out, and then a monthly pill for who knows how long.  I can see their point -- once the darned stuff gets in the lymph system, it's a whole new -- and worse -- battle.

I figure it's just a sudden pothole in the road to recovery (or what passes for it) that is the rest of my life.  I feel fine and aside from the hair and fingernails falling out bit, apparently look great to people.  I did have a great day, as my dad came down and visited me three weeks ago, and sent me $125 for my "new stereo" fund, while one good friend gave me $25 to spend any way I wanted while another gave me $40 to buy Season 1 and possibly 2 of the Castle DVDs...with the two together, I might be able to get Season 3 as well!  Here's my mom:  "I sense a Fillion marathon..."  I'm thinking yeah, like you'll object...you like him too, you just won't admit it out loud...

Speaking of my mom, she went in to talk to my chiropractor's office assistant about paying some of the roughly $1000 bill I have for my birthday because I haven't been able to work to pay on it, and he heard her.  She told me that she worked it out with him that she will take on half of the bill, as her own is zero, and he WROTE OFF the other half because he could afford it with the way his business is doing right now.  Shock - emoticon project So that was my biggest and best surprise...plus that mom paid the $50 to get the power box on this computer fixed yesterday when my computer refused to start last Saturday...

Wow...
Wow, that's great! I've never seen Castle, but I heard it's a great TV series. The only reason I know of Fillion is because of his voice acting as Vigilante. now if only there's a live TV series(or a cartoon one) with him as Vigilante, I think I'd be happy for the rest of my life.

I'm glad things are going well for you. :)  My mother's friend has ovarian cancer, but her numbers went up, and I hope that she get's better. As long as she keep on fighting, I know she can get better.
It is great...but like you, my first exposure to Nathan's voice was Vig.  My first exposure to Nathan in an actual acting job was as Captain Malcolm Reynolds on Firefly.  Great series, if short-lived...and in one eppie of the show we get to see all but about 5% of the man...yowza...if you want to see what I mean, google Firefly screencaps, episode "Trash".

I keep hoping that they would do a Seven Soldiers toon movie and tap Nathan for the voice...he's actually said he prefers Vig over Green Lantern and would do it again.  A live-action would be too much to hope for... *wishing*
